One of my hobbies is buying a bunch of books from Barnes and Noble, Books a Million, Thrift Shops, yard sales, and Amazon, then letting them sit on my bookshelves.

The first step in dealing with a problem is to admit you have a problem. So yes, I have a problem. In seriousness, I do a lot of reading but could always do more. One of my goals for 2025 is to read 50 books. I read too many non-fiction, business, and self-improvement-style books, so I will also mix in fiction this year. If you have any recommendations for fiction books, please let me know. I don’t even know what genres I like, so I’m open to trying almost anything. I will also admit that I’m not a purist, and I do love audiobooks. They count against my goal of 50.
To help move this goal along and hold myself accountable, I will publish a review of each of the books I’ve read. I’ve already knocked out three books this year: Atomic Habits, So Good They Can’t Ignore You, and Mastery. You can probably see a common thread in those titles and why I knocked them out first. You have my permission to call me out at the end of the year if you don’t see 50 posts of book reviews. As much as you called me out for slacking and not posting for two months, I know you won’t hesitate. :)
If anyone wants to collaborate and do a virtual book club, reach out. Discussing what I’ve read and seeing what others take away from a book is always more fun.

If you like Sci-Fi, I enjoyed the trilogy of the Three Body Problem. If you read The Martian by Andy Wier, he has another GREAT one with Project Hail Mary. I also love ANY of the Michael Lewis books (Moneyball, The Big Short, etc). If you haven't read it, as a technology guy, the true re-telling in The Flash Boys is REALLY REALLY good, ESP for an audiobook on a long drive, will keep you on the edge of your seat as a network engineer :)
Also, AG Riddle has some good Sci-Fi books if you kind of like some popcorn book sci-fi stuff. The Atlantis Gene series and Departure was enjoyable (for me) but not very intellectually challenging (nothing like the Three Body Problem books from a sci-fi perspective.
Other REAL life oldies but goodies, if you don't want to ever sleep again, the Hot Zone by Richard Preston about the first US outbrak of Ebola. And if you want drama/mystery fiction, there's a friend of mine here in Erie that is a FANTASTIC author, ANY of his books are amazing
